Get ready to kick off the festive season in spectacular style!
Workington Town Centre is transforming into a winter wonderland for our biggest Christmas celebration yet, complete with a star-studded performance that'll have you dancing in the streets.
The Christmas lights will be officially switched on in a magical moment that marks the beginning of the most wonderful time of the year in Workington.
But that's just the start - we've packed the day with FREE family activities, festive entertainment, and plenty of Christmas cheer!
What's On:
🎤 Live Performance by Liberty X - The chart-topping trio will be taking to the stage to perform their biggest hits, including the iconic 'Just A Little'

💃 Razzamataz Theatre Schools West Cumbria performance
🍪 Gingerbread Workshops - Get creative with festive baking
🎨 Arts & Crafts - Make your own Christmas decorations

🎮 VR Sleigh Ride - Experience a virtual winter adventure
Running 11am to 4:30pm, in 5 minute intervals in the Carnegie.
A queue system will be in place.

Cumberland Council are generously providing free parking between 11am - 7pm at the following carparks on the day of the event.

Paul Nicholson is a popular solo artist whose style consists of acoustic rock covers, including those of Bruce Springsteen, and many more.
11:45 - 12:15 Laura Bailey
Originally from Maryport but now based in Cockermouth, Laura Bailey has been working hard this year to make her mark on the local music scene — sharing her love of classic songs and creating joyful community moments through music. For this special occasion, she’ll be performing a selection of her favourite Christmas songs in her signature piano and vocal style – all designed to get you singing along and feeling the Christmas spirit!
12:30 - 1:00 Palo Alto
Palo Alto are a 3-Piece Indie Disco band. They are reviving the indie disco genre, fusing huge pop hooks and tight grooves with a psychedelic twist you won’t want to miss!
1:15 - 1:45 Eccentric Circles
Eccentric Circles are a 4 piece mostly acoustic band from the West coast of Cumbria. Playing folk mixed with southern gothic, blues, and rock influences, they deliver a driving, melodic, and emotive performance that'll have you singing and dancing.
2:00 - 2:30 Annie Jackson-Elliott
Get ready for festive vibes and timeless tunes! Join Annie Jackson-Elliott live at the Workington Light Switch-On as she performs acoustic versions of your favourite pop classics — inspired by Dolly Parton, Fleetwood Mac & Natasha Bedingfield.
2:45 - 3:15 Razzamataz
Razzamataz Theatre Schools West Cumbria will be performing, bringing to the stage lots of festive cheer. Students aged from 4 years to 18 years.
3:30 - 4:00 The Window View
The Window View are a 3-piece indie rock band formed in Cumbria over the last couple of years.
During this time, they have enjoyed many packed-out gigs and the release of their own debut single. Their music consists of indie classics mixed in with their own original material.
Get ready to be entertained!

Join Purple Phoenix Pottery for a festive, hands-on workshop where you can create your very own Magical Elf Door!
This fun activity is perfect for children and families to enjoy together during the Christmas light switch-on celebrations.
