A new chapter for a much-loved space in Vulcan Park
Tucked inside Vulcan Park, the newly refurbished Park End Shelter is ready to welcome the community once again. Originally built in 1937 as an ‘Old Man’s Shelter’, the shelter was created following donations from Helena Thompson. At the time, it offered a simple but important purpose: a warm, sheltered place where the gentlemen of Workington could gather, chat, read the newspaper and relax.
