Workington Go, Go, Go!


Saturday 18 March 2017 will see a new type of event brought across 3 locations in Workington. From 11am – 4pm Vulcan Park, Curwen Park and Workington Leisure Centre will be brought to live with FREE activities aimed at 12-18 year olds.

You don't have to be active or 'sporty' you just need to have a will to want to leave the house, have fun and be with friends.

All activities are FREE and pre-booking is essential as some sessions have limited slots.

Activities on offer are:

Workington Park

Orienteering

Orienteering with a twist! Navigate your way around the woods in Workington Park, locate and identify who/what is at the marker of each checkpoint and get back to base before anyone in your group to win a prize!

Sessions: 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.

Archery

Channel your inner Robin Hood and practice your shooting with the free archery sessions in Workington Park. Best Archer of the group will receive a certificate and prize.

Sessions: 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm

Skateboarding / BMX

Held at the Skatepark in Workington Park, the Skaters of Carlisle team will be on hand to help beginners and assist other skaters. Take part in 'Skatejam' to win prizes. Don't have a skateboard? Bring your BMX or scooter along.

Vulcan Park

Street Art (Graffiti)

Create some artwork to take home using spray cans and graffiti pens. The session will be delivered by a group of volunteers as part of the Young Cumbria programme.

Sessions: 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.

Panna football

Panna is the ultimate test of footballing skill and one of the most popular games in street football. Games are played one on one or two on two and the aim is to out skill your opponent with tricks, goals and nutmegs.

Sessions: 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm

Workington Leisure Centre

Snorkelling and Canoeing

Ever wanted to know how to snorkel or canoe? Well now you can find out. Workington Leisure Centre will be holding free sessions so you can have a go in the pool under full instruction.

Canoeing session: 12pm - 1pm

Snorkelling session: 1pm-2pm

Handball

Located in Workington's new Leisure Centre, the England Handball team will be showing you how to play the game and how to run your own junior competition.

Session: 2pm - 3pm.

Cheerleading

Ever fancied being a cheerleader? This workshop will run by Cheer Fun and Fitness in Workington Leisure Centre.

Session: 11am - 12pm

Climbing

A climbing wall will be set-up in Vulcan Park for free sessions from 11am-4pm, but you can also climb the wall in the Workington Leisure Centre from 3-4pm.

Squash

Held in Workington Leisure Centre, give this energetic sport a go.

Session: 4-5pm
